though I gave "Einstein" 70% of my CPU-time it won´t make it to be ready in time.
There are still over 8h time to work remaining.
It´s about 4 Days now for the first WU.
There are another 4 days left but the work is only done
up to 23%.

My Computer runs 24 hours a day and has in general nothing else to do but to be an answering machine and to surf a little bit.

slightly confused

milchstrasse7 – Maybe I can help, or perhaps I can not, but I’d like to know how many other projects your BOINC Client is running in conjunction with E@H?

Also, Take a peek at your Task Manager to see where your resources are doing?
_________
Thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom,

I have two other projects running on BOINC: SETI and LHC. but even when they are
suspended E@H does not take the time it could use.At the moment all other Projects are out of Work and suspended.

When E@H is running it uses between 96 and 99% of CPU-Power. Thats what my taskmanager says.

OK – Thanks for getting back with your exacting answers to my inquiry. Concerning the Task Manger, it appears that there is no leakage into other unknown or forgotten applications, residing on your computer, or that one of your “drivers” is taken-up some of your processor’s resources.

The next item to perhaps consider is your deadlines dates for LHC and SETI; it’s my understanding that if either or both of the deadlines (LHC and SETI) should come due, before the E@H deadline, then, either or both will have priority over E@H, could this be the situation?

A final point to consider; when you have signed-on to three new projects within a relatively short time span, I think the BOINC Client needs what will refer to as some “settling” time to sort things out. A recommendation and suggestion, is give BOINC some more time (you will not lose any credits) before you start “tweaking” your “Preferences”; this suggestion is given, going by the old proverbial saying of a Dog chasing its tail, never catches it, the same holds true for BOINC also.

Hi Tom,

many thanks for your answers.

I think it´s the "final point" because LHC and Seti are not sending any work
at the moment and E is running as expected. It might be time enough as there are
two days left to have this WU done.

And I´m afraid that patience is not one of my primary features.

by the way what are those credits good for anyway ?
At least I´m not interested in getting something in reward.

greetings

milchstrasse7 – In regards to the credits, on any of the Distributive Processing projects, the credits are really only figures of “Merit”, to show your contribution and participation in projects relating to science. They have no monetary value.

Many of the participates engage in these projects to demonstrate their computer knowledge by streamlining their hardware and by optimizing the software; so in some ways, I guess you can consider them credits of “ego”, but in a productive and useful cause.

I sincerely hope everything normalizes in your client and you enjoy the group of individuals who donate their time and equipment in the spirit of science. Should this problem continue, please provide an appended posting.

If you are using the screen

If you are using the screen saver, turn it off and the cpu will not lose any cycles to it....
