I've recently become E@H user, and that first time E@H downloaded one 6-mb file. How many work units are there, because it didn't download any more?

Also, Seti@Home and LHC@Home doesn't download WU's anymore, since E@H is running... Why?

Number of WU's?

Hi Milos,

Every so often, a large file is downloaded, but as you noticed, it's used for multiple WUs. I don't know exactly what it's for, but I believe it holds the actual data that then gets processed with different variables which are d/led in the WU... but I could be completely wrong.

The big downloads come well... every so often. Sometimes you crunch 4 or 5 in a row off the same big data piece, sometimes you have to d/l a new one for 2 subsequent units.

About Seti and LHC... Check that the resource shares are resonable (can be seen as percentages in the "projects" tab). If Einstein is getting 90% and the other 2 are sharing the remaining 10% (or some other large disparity). Other than that, check that you didn't mistakenly suspend the other two projects (also visible in the "projects" tab).

good luck!

Milos,

eberndl has explained very well about the large data files. I thought you might be interested to see a bit more for yourself as well.

If you go to your account page and "View" your results you will actually see 13 listed at the moment. Results eventually expire from the online database so this list will change over time but your "score" or credits will always be correct.

You can click on each ResultID in your list and see a number of interesting details about the result. Try it for your self. If you take the oldest one currently visible you will see a number of interesting things, including its full name which just happens to be w1_0990.5__0990.6_0.1_T14_S4hB_2. We are not normally too interested in this but if you take the first part of the name, eg w1_0990.5 then you have the name of the large data file from which this result was "sliced" as mentioned by eberndl.

If you check all your results this way you will see that all the still visible results have come from just two data files - 2 from the one I've just mentioned and all the remainder from l1_0426.5 which just happens to be your current large data file. It's had a pretty good run (11 results) so I'd guess that BOINC will soon be instructed to download a new one and delete the old one. This will all happen totally automatically.

As to why your other projects are not downloading, it could be due to the way you have your resource shares as eberndl correctly suggests. It also could be due to the way previous work has been allocated. If BOINC has given the other two projects a good run, maybe it's just EAH's turn to catch up. Whatever the exact reason, the best bet is just to watch what happens over the next few days and when the time is correct, BOINC will allow the other projects to get new work.

So as eberndl suggests, check your resource shares, check that nothing is suspended and then sit back and watch how BOINC handles the allocation of crunching time. Certainly report back if things seem to be going haywire :).

Good luck and welcome to the project!!

Cheers,
Gary.

T16 for w units T11 for l

T16 for w units
T11 for l units

3 phases:
A, B and C for each science run.
Currently: S4 , B phase almost finished
Already crunched: S3

Thank you for the explanation

Thank you for the explanation :)

About sharing resources, all 3 projects are equal from the beginning: 33,33%.

That's fine then. I notice that EAH seems to have slowed down its rate of production so I assume your other projects now have work?

Cheers,
Gary.

Milo, In the last little

Milo,

In the last little while, Seti has been having some server problems and LHC has had no work to give out. This might (in part) be why you've been dedicated to E@H.

Could you do a couple things??

1) Post what your "connect every" setting is at, and if it's more than 5 days, you should lower it. Even if it's 2 days I think you should lower it, but it should work better.

2) SETI currently has work (I think... it did last time I had to grab anything). Go to your projects tab, select SETI and click the "update" button. Then go to your messages tab, wait a minute or so, and then select all the messages after

2005.10.15 16:46:51||request_reschedule_cpus: project op

This will give us an idea of why you aren't getting any SETI units.
