Nvidia GPU not found

Would be nice if you said for which of your (3?) systems this was.
Plus can you please post its start-up messages? The first 20-30 lines will do fine.

Einstein apps dont try to detect the GPUs by themselves, they only know about them if BOINC found them. May be other apps from other projects dont rely on BOINC for detecting the GPU.

Your issue is related to a change in the Windows OSs since Win Vista: when you run BOINC as a service the GPUs can't be detected because the drivers are not loaded until there is a user logged (or something like that).
To fix that you need to reisntall BOINC without selecting the option to run as a service (I think it says something like "Protected Mode" during the install, and depending of the version It also says that it may prevent Win Vista to detect the GPU, but the message should be "Vista or later").

Several days ago I started receiving only Half the WU's in GPU mode.
I have installed for several years: ( 2 ) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 (1279MB) driver: 31422, but Einstein is Only Recognizing ( 1 ) NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470 (1279MB) driver: 31422 .. Just in the last several days..

My PC is Running Great.. Both NVIDIA GeForce GTX 470's are working fine. The Problem seems to be with the Eistein@home Application... Can you please advise. Thanks.

Boinc 7.0.28 has a bug and

Boinc 7.0.28 has a bug and sometimes it fails to recognize identical GPUs as beeing identical and then it only uses the one it think its the better.

You can fix that upgrading to the latest Beta Version of BOINC (currently 7.0.60) or adding a cc_config.xml with the option to use all the GPUs.
This file should go in the BOINC data directory (by default it is in C:\ProgramData\BOINC, it's a hidden folder)

The minimal content of this file to recognize both GPUs is:

1

Be sure to create it with notepad or ay other plain text editor and be sure to name it exactly cc_config.xml and not cc_config.xml.txt.
If you want to know more about this config file look here: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Client_configuration

Horacio, Thanks Very

Horacio,

Thanks Very Much. I decided to Install the 7.0.60 Version and it is working fine, so far. I hope this version isn't unstable as indicated as a possibility. Both GPU's are running now.

I didn't expect such a quick response so I had added CPU applications ahead of time and I now have what looks like almost 100 WU's downloaded with 12 Gamma-ray pulsar search #2 1.04 Running and another 60-70 Waiting to run. I also, ( at the same time ), have 2 Binary Radio Search (Arecibo) 1.33 (BRP4cuda32nv301) running with another 31 GPU WU's waiting to run. I think that I have enough Wu's to Last awhile.

I didn't want to mess around with trying to figure out how to add the script you sent me since I am rather new to Win-7. I have 4 other low power WinXP PC's which I have found how to find the hidden files on them before.

I enjoy running the Arecibo WU's since I visited the OLD Arecibo Control Room around 1970 at the invite of the manager at that time. We were both HAM Radio operators, and I use to talk to him via Moon Bounce, from L.I. NYC using a 9' Dish and he was using a home built Arecibo Duplicate 100' Dish in his back Yard, ( which I never saw ).

But one day I surprised him at the Main Gate at Arecibo and ID'd myself, and he left me in to drive under the Edge of the Arecibo Dish to the OLD Control Room just in Time To send a Signal to the Planet Venus, ( which he left me push the Transmit Button ). Then we went into the back right Kitchen for a Couple Cold Beers Waiting for the Signal to Bounce back from Venus. The Whole Event in or around 1970 looked exactly like you saw on the X-file TV Series, and I am sure that it was.

Also my Father Provided the 1st Mechanical Drive System for the Arecibo Antennae Feed when Arecibo was 1st built.

Thanks again. I hope the 7.0.60 Version keeps working stable.

Jesse

It's a beta version, and although a release client, it does have some lingering bugs. We're up to 7.0.61 as of tonight, meaning that there may still be one or more on the way. However, most main bugs have been squashed, and the alpha testers can only test so far.

It's when such a client goes out to the general public that more bugs will be returned. Always worked that way.

So keep an eye out on the forums, or your BOINC Event Log. When a new version gets released to the public, it'll be posted on many project forums, and the BOINC forums. Just make sure to update to the recommended version then, then you're in the same (bug) boat as the rest of the non-testers. :-)

7.0.62 as of 7:30AM EST! Must have a been a real problem to move on so quickly, or it didn't really fix the problem as thought.

Not a real problem, just the

Not a real problem, just the removal of some mouse-over text and one 's'.
