Hiyo...I've got BOINC set up on a laptop and attached to this project. My statistics show that the same computer has been registered about 20ish times. It's the same computer, but for some reason they keep getting registered. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Dr.J,

Looks like your laptop has a bad case of the hiccups, most recently on Nov 10. It appears as if it were detached and re-attached to the project, but I do not think you did that, especially several times at 1 min 1 sec intervals.

(edit) - Wait 2 days or so before doing the merge I suggested below, so that it might be easier for someone to pick through the serial hosts for info to help solve.(end edit)
I suggest you go to "Show computers" on the website and merge all your score of laptop hosts, but I'm not saying that will fix the problem.

I see also that the last result returned before this spate of new hosts, here, had the "graphics bug" error code (0xc0000005), indicative of an incompatibility between the 4.79 Einstein app and newer-than-4.19 Boinc , and I'd suggest you update to the 0.18 stable-but-still-beta Einstein app, available with instructions under "More Information" on the Einstein homepage.

Also possible my "tickling" this thread will bring it to the attention of someone who would know exactly what is going on with your rig.

Regards,

Michael

You've got a total of 38

You've got a total of 38 boxes in your (virtual) list. If you sold most of those you could raise a heck of a lot of (virtual) bucks :).

Your current (real) 1.6 GHz laptop would appear to be CPUID 439259. (You also seem to have a 2.26GHz one as well). At one stage a few days ago its CPUID was 358673 and that one has 4 results still left in the list but doesn't seem to be crunching anymore. Your oldest zero results virtual laptop seems to be 431624. For any of these that have no results in the database (most of them in fact) start by clicking on the smallest CPUID (ie 431624). On the page that comes up right down the bottom click "Merge this computer". From the list of suitable merge targets that come up select the largest one - eg 439259, the one that is currently crunching. You should then be able to proceed through each virtual box in turn and merge it. At the end you should just be left with two 1.6GHz laptops, 358673 and 439259. If any of the above commentary doesn't seem to be correct to you, please don't do anything before reporting back here with your concerns.

If this much goes OK, we can then try to work out the real problem :).

Cheers,
Gary.

Thanks for the help folks :)

Thanks for the help folks :) That works for me. I'll go ahead and merge the laptops. Fortunetely, the 1.6 laptop has been replaced, so hopefully my newer laptop will not have this issue ;) Thanks again guys!

Hey, that computer list looks

Hey, that computer list looks much better now!! Well done on getting it sorted.

That 2.26GHz Pentium M sounds like a mean machine. You're going to make a number of people around here quite envious :). I'm looking forward to seeing the results list when it starts churning them out :).

Good luck!!

Cheers,
Gary.
