Some of us to have lives

Some of us to have lives off-line and support other Boinc projects :-))

Shake rattle & roll as Bill Haley said in 1954.

Waiting for Godot & salvation :-)

Why do doctors have to practice?
You'd think they'd have got it right by now

My dear Sir! BOINC is

My dear Sir!

BOINC is PART of life, it is NOT life itself. Real life is blue skies, smelling roses, family, friends, a good novel, a decent glass of wine etc. It's when people take it all too seriously that problems happen :-)

Obviously I should have clipped the quote! The original quote is "Some of us to have lives off-line and support other Boinc projects :-))" What I was talking about was 'Some of us support other Boinc projects :-))'

Actually I tried, probably

Actually I tried, probably not very well, to make my reply to yours cover both parts of my original statement in 154287 :-)) i.e. Firstly Boinc projects being an all consuming past time, and secondly crunching for other Boinc projects. You have quite a list of your own actually, and I keep bumping into you at many other places!

Anyhow this has all got us a bit closer to the final number.

OK - Been away FAR TOO

OK - Been away FAR TOO LONG!!! :-(

Took on a new project three weeks ago; turned my Intel PC into a MAC running El Capitan. Installed BOINC 7.6.22, connected to SETI, SETI Beta, and Einstein. All Projects downloaded work - OH yeah, got the GTX-750 TI SC GPU recognized in MAC; so, my current queue of work is ALL GPU based. :-) New system is Andromeda.

About this MAC:

Model Name: Mac Pro
Model Identifier: MacPro3,1
Processor Name: Quad-Core Intel Xeon
Processor Speed: 3 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 4
L2 Cache: 12 MB
Memory: 8 GB
Bus Speed: 1.33 GHz
Boot ROM Version: MP31.006C.B05
SMC Version (system): 1.25f4

Actual PC Hardware:

Intel Core 2 Extreme, Quad Core QX9650 @ 3 GHz
Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P MOBO Rev. 1.6 with Award v6.00PG BIOS Ver FD
8 GB DDR2 800 MHz RAM - (2 GB x 4 sticks)
EVGA GeForce GTX-750 TI SC with 2 GB GDDR5
One WD Black 1 TB Hard Drive - Win 7 Pro x64
One WD Black 1 TB Hard Drive - El Capitan

Since my hardware is 2008-2009; EXCEPT for the GTX-750 TI SC, I made sure that MAC OS sees the system as a MAC Pro 3,1.

Just put the final touches to El Capitan earlier today. Got sound working. Now, I have a FULLY functioning MAC. ;-) :-)

Purely coincidence!!

Yes, the longest part was getting Snow Leopard streamlined first, then getting El Capitan downloaded; which I couldn't do from the App Store, because Apple didn't recognize the "MAC" as a real MAC. So, a MAC friend re-downloaded it on his end, and we went through Skype for me to DL it to my system.

Once I had El Capitan, that only took 3 days to get perfected. :-) However, getting El Capitan downloaded over Skype took 7 Hours!!!!! :-O

Typing this, now, on Andromeda - El Capitan. :-) [EDIT:] Now that El Capitan is working, the App Store works, too. Apple sees this system as a true MAC 3,1. :-)
