Cafe Einstein: LPTP # X V

Just after dark tonight I went outside to refill a few of our hummingbird feeders so they will have breakfast ready in the morning.

While I am out I always look up in the night sky (over 50 years now) and since my eyes were still getting used to the dark I at first just see Jupiter and no stars and then as I walked out farther in the front yard looking NW I see a bright ball of fire which is Venus this time of years in the darkest part of the sky.

Seconds later looking to the right of Venus I see the ISS heading in my direction towards the east and was one of the longest streaks across the sky I have ever seen by the ISS over the years.

Seconds after it crossed the sky above me and gone over the eastern horizon I see a satellite going in the same direction and right after that another satellite just like they were chasing the ISS.

Of course the satellites are about 100 times higher in the sky.

But I guess one might have been the SpaceX's Dragon space capsule.
